Mohammed Hammie is an internationally
recognized journalist, award-winning water
advocate, author, and human rights activist with
more than fifteen years of professional
experience dedicated to water, sanitation, and
social impact initiatives across Tanzania and East
Africa.
Recognized for his outstanding work in Water and
Sanitation reporting, Mohammed was honored
with the Excellence in Journalism Awards
Tanzania (EJAT) 2024. Through his journalism,
advocacy, campaigns, documentaries, and
international collaborations, he has consistently
focused on amplifying the voices of underserved
and marginalized communities while promoting
sustainable access to clean water and sanitation.
Over the years, Mohammed has partnered with
leading international organizations including UN-
Water, AquaFed, Simavi, End Water Poverty,
Water Integrity Network, and the International
Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH),
contributing to impactful initiatives surrounding
water accessibility, groundwater protection,
women’s empowerment in WASH, and human
rights to water and sanitation.
In addition to his advocacy work, Mohammed is
also an accomplished author with several
published novels in both Swahili and English,
using storytelling as a powerful tool for
education, awareness, and social change.
As East Africa Ambassador for HuProTec Schweiz
AG, Mohammed Hammie supports the
company’s vision of advancing sustainable water
solutions and improving access to safe drinking
water through innovative Atmospheric Water
Generation (AWG) technologies across the
region.
